Hi
I have been offered Tocilizumab as after four years on Rituximab it has stopped working. Has anyone started or been on Tocilizumab is it working for them and have they had any side effects?

Hi Ann,

I tried Tocilizumab for about 6 months and unfortunately had to come off it due to liver function bloods tests rising too high. I am not sure if it was doing me any good, I believe it takes a while to kick in, I did not experience any other side effcts, except a slight headache the day after nfusion. I am not in my first flush of youth, and have had arthritis a very long time! So I may not be a great example for you to go by. I did meet a few youngsters on it, who seemed to be doing very well. The anti-tnf , i loved by miles , was Etanacept ( Enbrel ),
Good luck with your treatment.

Hi Jenny
Thank you for your input regarding tocilimab Im in my late sixties so lots of these drugs have a very different effect on us as they would on younger people I get very nervous when I have to start a new drug because of the side effects they have but without them I supose we might be in wheel chairs. Hi Ann,
I am in my 60th year, so it is probable we may react in a similar way. I have tried many of these drugs, and like yourself, am really nervous, life is more precious than when your in your 20's and 30's. I am actually going to my hospital today with a long written saga of life on Azathioprine, which I was put on three weeks ago. I find the side effects with most of these drugs impossible to live with! I have taken myself off it!
Good luck with whichever drug you try! Let me know how your getting on. If only the sun would shine. Never mind, as you say, where would we be without our drugs and Doctors , who try so hard for us.
